The diamond cutting factory here in Mauritius was originally opened in 1970 under the group L.S.P. Ltd. It was Mr. Denton's father, Albert Goldstein who initially took over the diamond cutting works in Mauritius in 1980. Mr. Denton then took it over shortly after. The original company, L.S.P. Ltd continues to function today along with her sister company, Mauriden Ltd. Both are still heavily involved in the diamond trade using the latest high-tech manufacturing equipment, with clients from all over the world, some spanning more than 20 years of association.
In 1987, Adamas was opened as a retail outlet for the diamonds being produced in the diamond cutting works. Mr. Denton tells the story about how one day he was called to the front gate of the building to entertain the request of some visitors from overseas if they could get a tour of the famous diamond cutting factory of Mauritius. Mr. Denton obliged and tours were started. Shortly afterwards tourists began asking if they could buy the diamonds and thus Adamas Ltd. was born.
In June 2005, Mr. Denton's son began full time employment with the company adding another generation of the family to the trade and continuing the family's nearly two century long history in the diamond cutting industry.
Today Adamas Ltd has grown from being a small one room development off of the original diamond cutting premise of LSP Ltd and Mauriden Ltd to now having four store locations around Mauritius; the original being in Floreal which boasts an attached shopping center and a diamond museum documenting the history, nature, and the manufacturing process of the diamond cutting industry in Mauritius and worldwide. The second store is located at Dias Pier at Caudan Waterfront, the prime shopping center of the island’s capital. And the third located in the north at Richmond Hill Centre Grand Baie. The newest addition to the Adamas Boutiques is located on the West Coast at Cascavelle Shopping Village in Flic en Flac.
